How Long Should I Treat An Injury With Cold Therapy?

Anyone who is active and those of us who were told to get more active for a healthier lifestyle, know that from time to time we may get a twinge of pain from a joint or muscle or worse, happen to suffer an injury while engaging in our activity of choice.  A way to treat this if it happens,  is by using “Cold Therapy” which is also known as cryotherapy. It works by reducing blood flow to a particular area, which can significantly reduce inflammation and swelling that causes pain,

Most physicians and trainers recommend icing and elevating the injured part of the body that is affected. But they also provide this warning that when using ice directly on the injured area to keep the ice constantly moving so that you don’t harm your  upper skin area.

However, the application of our Physicool’s Cooling Bandage, reduces the tissue temperature around the injured site resulting in constriction of the local blood vessels; therefore reducing blood flow and swelling, treating the injured area, without the mess of dripping, wet ice. Our bandages reduce the amount of swelling early on while reducing the pain as the nerve endings at the injury site will not be as compressed. The sooner Physicool is used to treat a sports injury, the greater the benefit and the speedier the rehabilitation.

Because Physicool is pulling heat away from injuries rather than putting something cold on top of it, there is never a risk of burning your skin, as there is with using an icing application. The pre-soaked bandage can be applied quickly to provide instant cooling and promote speedy recovery. Each bandage has a Velcro strap that holds it in place without creating a pressure point. Initially charged with 2-3 hours cooling the bandages are reusable and Physicool’s unique cooling effects will still be felt long after removal. Physicool is a perfect solution for all strains, and sprains!
